Prof. Dhirananda Thakur was the first teacher of the Bengali Department of the College. He was one of those with whom the college started its journey in 1945. Over the years the department has continued to evolve and expand catering to the growing needs of students. Today Bengali is taught in all three shifts of the college. The Department currently has its own seminar library, departmental magazine and organizes regular cultural activities. Students of the department are highly motivated and succeed in University Examinations. This year on 6 May 2022 Dr. Rajyeswar Sinha HoD, Bengali, Jadavpur University delivered a lecture in the college that was eagerly attended by both students and faculty members.
