About the Department
The department of English at SA Jaipuria College has an august heritage. The department is about 50 years old and renowned academics like Prof. R. K. Dasgupta (who later joined the University of Calcutta) and Prof. A. B. Rudra have served in the department. The department offers undergraduate courses in English Hons, English General & AECC English, in the CBCS system. It can boast of a pool of talented students both in academic and extra curricular fields. This year Prof. Anushila Bhattacharya HoD, Dept. of English Bethune College delivered a lecture on the Eighteenth Century and the Rise of Prose. On 23rd April 2022 the department also organized a seminar titled Post-Colonial Shakespeare : A Table Talk which was attended by students and faculty members of the college.
