About the Department
The Department of Commerce at S.A. Jaipuria College is one of the most reputed and oldest departments of the institution. Initially the College started the Commerce discipline in its evening shift. But persistent demand from the students led to the introduction of the discipline in the Day shift from the academic session 1971-72. In the year 1993 Hons Course in B. Com was also started in the morning shift, which is exclusively for girls. From its humble beginnings the department of commerce has burgeoned over the years to become one of the most reputed departments of the institution. Students passing out of the department have shown academic excellence both in College evaluation as well as in the University Examinations. Additionally students have fared extremely well in CA, CS, CMA, MBA, CFA and a range of other job oriented professional courses. Regular seminars and field trips are part of the curriculum of the college. On 13 May 2022 the department of Commerce (Morning, Day, & Evening) organized a seminar on Quality, Approach to Teaching Learning in Commerce Education which was attended by eminent academic personalities. A workshop on Computerised Accounting and E-Filing was also organized for the faculty members this year by the department.
